Chiharu Tokoro received the bachelor’s degree in resource engineering from Waseda University, Tokyo, Japan, in 1998, and the master’s and Ph.D. degrees in geosystem engineering from The University of Tokyo, Tokyo, in 2000 and 2003, respectively. From 2004 to 2007, she was an Assistant Professor at the Resources and Environmental Engineering Department, Waseda University. She was a Lecturer until 2007, an Associate Professor until 2009, and a Professor until 2015 with the Resource and Environmental Engineering Department, Waseda University. From 2016 to 2021, she was a Project Professor with the Institute of Industrial Science, and a Professor with Systems Innovation, The University of Tokyo, since 2021. She is the author of ten books, more than 100 articles, and 16 inventions. Her research interests include mineral processing, chemical engineering, and powder processing for waste treatment and recycling, including pulsed discharge disintegration.
